The only major sea battle of World War I was waged about sixty miles off the coast of Denmark in 1916. The Battle of Jutland began when German dreadnaughts attempted to run a blockade set up by the British fleet in the North Sea. Huge losses mounted on both sides mostly for Britain, losing 14 ships and more than 6,000 men, while Germany suffered 11 ships…
