Dear Medium Content Creators

Frustrated Notification user

Would it be too much to ask for a decent, working notification system? I know you are working tirelessly behind the scenes coming up with all kinds of money-making schemes, but you do your writers and readers a disservice by ignoring our pleas.

I’m not talking about email notifications. They work, but they don’t send me every single notice for every single thing on Medium. I rely on that cursed bell to tell me I have messages and responses to answer, but I click on it and sometimes it just spins ad nauseam. Other times, I will get a few of my notifications and then I click for older ones and nothing! No reaction to my pressing that cursed link.

Do you know how frustrating it becomes when you are waiting on a response or a notice you’ve been published, or just to see who’s clapping at the same things you did (I really detest that part of notifications… just sayin’)? If you actually use your own system, can you please explain to me why you haven’t yet improved it? Can’t we go to a separate page that shows ALL of our notifications?

To all of the writers for my pub and my readers, please forgive this mild rant. I promise to read your responses as soon as I can. For now, just know I am grateful you wrote. Your efforts are not mote.
