Dear Scott Morrison, Prime Minister of Australia
A Covid-19 plan for Aussies, Kiwis, and the world
Dear Prime Minister,
cc: Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister of New Zealand
Strewth, mate, you guys have had it rough lately. Here’s an idea that might help, in a letter to Prime Minister Ardern. (It’s a bit prolix, sorry. If I had more time, it’d be shorter). Anyway, maybe have a chat with her. Doing it together would be awesome. Or, in one country, working together.
You’ve already ramped up your Covid-19 testing. That’ll help, but all that talk about businesses ‘hibernating’ for six months or more can’t be going down too well. If you give this testing lark a bit of nudge, and get it up to Germany’s rate of 200,000 a day, you’d get it done in four months, plus a bit. Or get behind the Kiwis, and do it in 3 weeks or so. Either way, mass testing should, I reckon, be done differently than elsewhere. The world’s first full-population testing regime would help deliver better health and economic outcomes for both countries, and the world (as outlined in that letter and an article).
