Gathering Knowledge Is Your First Step.
In a competitive digital marketing and writing world, knowledge is your only weapon! Knowledge is the only way you can outwork, outperform, outwrite, and outwit your competitors.
Your content must be better and offer more reliable solutions. Because providing solutions is the key to creating curiosity, but we will get to that in just a bit.
Through experience, I can tell you that in order to build up an arsenal of knowledge, you’re going to fail, a lot! You are going to test more systems, programs, and tutorials, and read more eBooks than you will later be able to recall.
All the while, and through all the failures. You are building up the knowledge needed to compete at a professional level. Your knowledge is what will get you noticed by the right people (Huge Influencers And Professional Writers).
Once you get to that level, you will enter a whole new exciting world of digital marketing and writing you never thought existed. Part of gaining knowledge is to connect with other professionals.
Especially the ones that are lightyears ahead of yourself because they already are where you want to be. And they already know the way, what to avoid, and which steps to take.
Knowledge, however, is just part of competing at a professional level. Your online presence makes up the rest. Like your professional profiles for instance. But creating professional profiles is already covered in another Medium publication.
Develop The Ability To Create Curiosity.
This is a major talent you need to develop because a curious audience is an active audience. That is the whole point of building your own audiences in the first place.
Having 150K “Followers”, or even “Subscribers” but there is little to no response on your work means they have little interest (if any) in your work. This completely defeats the purpose in the first place.
With Quora, for instance, I have around 3K followers. As illustrated below, I’m just going to leave it there. I think “Point Proven”, right? A smaller targeted audience is worth a lot more than a large untargeted one.
But my Quora spaces also played a role in the visitor count as illustrated below. My point is that you don’t need giant follower and subscriber counts. You need interested followers and subscribers.
Creating curiosity is an explosive way to get a lot more exposure with digital marketing. But that goes for image design, content, titles, headers, and sub-headers.
In a subtle way, you need to address a need, and offer a solution, along with why your solution is better than all the other similar choices. All this is done, without a single sales pitch.
When you create enough curiosity, then by the time your visitor gets to your digital offer. They would be excited and looking forward to purchasing and testing your solution! Creating curiosity is about.
Introduce And Present The Topic Clearly.
Mention A Relatable Problem.
Offer A Personally Tested Solution.
Provide Proof That Your Solution Works.
That is what creating curiosity is all about, and just so you know. I find that audiences enjoy illustrations to follow along with your story. They like to see proof, as mentioned above.
One thing though, personally. I will never share any impressive sales screenshots. Because it creates misdirection and too easily suggests the idea of “instant riches”.
Never lead your audience down a path of false hope and promises. Just provide the solutions so they can find out for themselves if it will work for them.
Remember, not everything works for everyone. There is no “One Size Fits All” with Digital Marketing.
Digital Marketing Is The Future Of Online Income.
Now, I have read several articles about how the internet is growing with interest in how to make money online. Rightly so too, because unemployment is on the rise, especially after the pandemic.
People are searching for ways to either supplement their income. Or have no income and are looking for ways to do that on the internet. It is an ever-growing interest!
The search term “passive income” has seen significant growth over the last 5 years in the United States alone. Especially around May of 2021 and has been on an increasing trend ever since.
As illustrated by Google Trends and Keywords Everywhere below, you can see the rise in interest for “passive income” for yourself.
Therefore, digital marketing is undoubtedly the future of careers and generating income. But a rise in interest also means a rise in competition. Which is why your level of knowledge is so important.
My good friend, Jerry Keszka so elegantly wrote about the requirements you will need to be successful in the next decade to come. He shares the 10 most important skills for the next decade and beyond.
Pay attention to the skills Jerry is mentioning, among others, digital marketing, and digital writing. A passion we both share too. Jerry and I connected on Medium a while back, and it has been a pleasure working with him ever since.
Stop Procrastinating And Just Start Writing.
Stop waiting for the “right time”, the right time will never come! The “right time” always has been and always will be “right now”! If you want to get better than your competitors with digital marketing and digital writing?
Then you better start writing, because like with anything else. If you want to get really good at something, then start and keep doing the same thing until you mastered it.
I am still doing the exact same thing I did around 12 years ago, I just kept doing it. Diving into Digital Marketing and all the different subcategories like writing, affiliate marketing, blogging, YouTube and so much more.
Start writing and keep writing. Come up with solutions, answers, and guides. Then maintain consistency so your content can be seen in various feeds and home pages.
Once you start maintaining consistency, you will see an increase in interest. This means you are getting recognized, and your audience is growing.
It matters not how insignificant, or unprofessional you might consider your content to be. It matters only that you keep writing and researching and working on getting better than you were yesterday.
Always remember that somewhere, someone is struggling to complete something you have already mastered. The beauty of digital marketing is that there will always be someone that knows more than you and are better than you.
But it also means there will always be someone that knows less than you. Growing with digital marketing and digital writing means learning from those that know more than you, and teaching those that know less.
One step at a time, there is no such thing as a giant leap to fame and fortune. The island holidays and sports cars will have to wait a while. Let go of that for now and just focus on consistency.
Digital Marketing And Professional Articles.
There are around 11 critical requirements to have your article recognized as a professional. Or 11 that I can think of off the top of my head right now.
Titles.
Avoiding English Stop Words In Titles.
Presentation Images.
Image Crediting, Provenance, And Copyright.
Headers.
Sub-Headers.
Keyword And Search Phrase Placement.
Paragraph Length.
Sentence Length.
Using Transition Words.
Grammar And Spelling.
These form a really huge part of professional digital writing and digital marketing. But we’re not going to get into each of them separately, this is an article, and as much as I would love to, let’s rather avoid an eBook for now, shall we?
But let’s just cover the basics though. The title should be objective, and your target keyword or search phrase should be placed as close to the beginning of the title as possible.
You can access a large list of English stop words by just searching the phrase in your browser. Try avoiding English stop words in your titles.
Presentation images must create curiosity, and all text must be focused on the centre of the image. Images must also be credited, and responsibility must be accepted by the author for provenance and copyright.
Use headers and sub-headers containing the keywords and search phrases targeting the topic. With headers, you need to understand that your title is usually the H1 header.
The H2 Header is usually like a content-separating header, and when you use an H3 header then it must be under an H2 header. An H4 header must be under an H3 header and so forth.
Paragraphs should be preferably around 250 words, although I also find this extremely difficult sometimes. Paragraphs should include no more than 2–3 sentences per paragraph.
While the first 2 to 4 sentences of your article are crucial. This is where your visitor turns into a reader or just moves on to the next article. Sentences should not exceed 20 words.
Using transitional words keeps your reader entertained. Among these, you will find “Therefore”, “Because”, and many more. Just search your browser for transition words.
Transition words lead one sentence into the next, leaving your reader little choice but to keep reading. But using transition words to maintain curiosity is an art. It will take time to master.

On your journey through digital marketing and digital writing, you are going to come across other professionals. Gradually, you will start building a business relationship.
When influencers and professionals start mentioning you, you start connecting. It is only good manners and courtesy to mention them in return. As illustrated above.
I am mentioning an outstanding writer with over 40 years of writing experience with whom I had the pleasure to connect. Mentioning the professionals you learn from is also a great way to strengthen a business-related bond.
That is how you build trust, and the key is to always give more than you take. If you want other professionals to mention you, then you need to mention them too.
If you want people to respond, clap, like, share, and comment on your work. Then you have to do the same in return, and it is up to you to “get the ball rolling”.
You must introduce yourself because no one is going to come looking for you. Unless you are already a recognized and known name on the internet.
You have to go out and build your reputation by interacting with people and other professionals.
