In this Minute of Truth, I’ll share two things that any mentor needs from you in order to have a productive relationship.

Number one: Commit to the process. Your mentor will tell you what you need to hear, not necessarily what you want to hear, about issues you need to address. Be open to constructive criticism, then do the work your mentor recommends so you can improve your performance and your results.

Secondly: Respect their time. Your mentor is busy, so the effort they make to be there for you should be valued accordingly. The best way to show your appreciation for that effort is to use their time wisely.

If you’re able to do these two things with your mentor, your opportunities for success will significantly increase.
