Is Russia or Ukraine more serious? China or the U.S.? Israel or Iran? The answers may surprise you

For this discussion, I mean serious in the sense that one focuses on what matters and does so in a deliberate, cautious, measured way.

A serious country identifies important topics and addresses them truthfully. They do not engage in avoidance or wishful thinking.

With this in mind, let’s explore some of the world’s countries and see how they measure up.

Before we finish, we’ll address a related question:

  • Do citizens deserve the leaders we have or are our leaders letting us down?

Russia vs. Ukraine

Until Russia embarked on its attempt to conquest Ukraine, I would have said that they were a serious country.

Mr. Putin took a pragmatic view of geopolitics, in the sense that he asked simply what works. He was a keen observer of foibles and frailties among the leaders of his counterparts.
