I love to donate. I donate clothes, shoes, electronics, bedding, lamps and shades, pots and pans; anything that is good quality. A truck comes by and picks up my donations. I don’t usually take a tax deduction because I don’t do taxes anymore. I am on social security. If the tax people want to make a big thing of it, let them.

I put in a donation request and the men pick up my items from my house. I have to label them and they get them. I usually do this once a month.

I used to donate to Goodwill but people have to buy them again and I had to take them there. I don’t think that is right. Anyway, the way I do it they are donated to vets and their families free of charge.

That is the only way I know to help them. I used to live in a transitional shelter for families and they took donations as well. One time someone donated a box of towels. These towels were so tattered I wondered why they did it. Nobody would miss them. Things really need to be of good quality when people donate because it messes with people’s minds. The homeless person already is in a ditch so why do that.

I also lost all of my property when my family left Costa Rica. I have gotten most of everything back again after twenty-eight years. I know how crappy donations make you feel and how you…
