Don’t Ever Get Robbed: Multi-factor Authentication is Killing Me

I never asked for it. I didn’t want it.

I don’t care if someone goes through the hassle of stealing my passwords to log in to job-hunting websites. Let them apply for as many jobs as they like using my information. If they want to log in to my university account and do my homework for me, let them. And, heaven forbid, if they want to make a large deposit into one of my bank accounts, by all means, let them.

My passwords are secure enough for me. They would be difficult to impossible to guess if we were playing scrabble. (The 8 was a typo, but I decided to leave it. That will be the only hint you get regarding my passwords.)

I was robbed twice over a two month period.

The thief came into my house at night while I was sleeping. He didn’t take my laptop or my television. He did take my wallet and my prescription glasses. Twice.

So, in addition to losing my driver’s license, social security card, all my cash, and my ATM cards, I can’t see. As an added bonus, the thief hacked my phone and changed my security code there too. So, I can’t call or text anyone, and can’t receive any of the…
