While YouTube can be a great platform for entertainment and education, it can also be a huge time suck. Browser extensions can help to customize YouTube in a way that suits your needs and priorities, and can also block recommendations so that you are not constantly being bombarded with new videos to watch.

Additionally, extensions can add back the Dislike button on YouTube, which can be helpful for giving feedback on videos that you didn’t enjoy.

For me these Extensions did the Trick:

Let’s see how I use it.

I removed these Sections with Unhook and now it Looks like this:

  • Home feeed, leaves you starring at a blank page and reconsider your choices.
Youtube home feed, emptied by the extension
  • Trending page, spares you in general with some Brain Cells
  • Shorts feed, gives you back more Sleep
  • Video Sidebar, makes you more focused on the Video you are just watching and can even make you write a comment.
Youtube not bombarding you with clickbait

With Unhook you will get back a lot of your future time.

My second used Extension is the return of the dislike Button, which just simply adds it back and let’s you know what the Internet is shaming.

In Conclusion

I would really encourage you to take a look at these extensions. Effectively you will spend much less time on YouTube itself and you may be more mindful and interact closer with the content you watch.

If you know any other good extensions for digital wellbeing, let me know in the comments!
