Dry 2025: How 7 Months of sobriety changed my relationship with alcohol.
So, ladies and gentlemen, as a reminder, at the start of the year, I decided to embrace sobriety / not drink alcohol for at least a period of three months. My goal was to do a dry Q1, which ended up being over seven months. The longer my abstinence lasted, the easier it became not to drink as my confidence grew.
The only reason why I decided to end my abstinence was simple: I had travelled with a few friends to the mountains (one of my favourite places) to celebrate my birthday, and I said to myself… “You know what FUCK IT I have earned this.”
So I celebrated not only the anniversary of my birth with people whose company I treasure and have been with me through a very trying time over the past year. But doing so by putting into practice my new approach to how I said I would enjoy alcohol going forward.
This blog post will be a bit longer than my previous ones, as I detail my ongoing journey that began in January 2025.
