Raising little ones can be tough, especially when it comes to getting them to eat their vegetables (or any other item they don’t want to eat but should).

A common saying in our household is, “Just get it over with, eat the stuff you don’t want first, and then you can enjoy everything else”.

Originally I thought it was just some clever strategy passed down throughout generations of somewhat-savvy parents. But then I heard the phrase “eating the frog” from a friend this morning.

What the hell is “eating the frog”?

Famous author Mark Twain once said, “Eat a live frog first thing in the morning, and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.”

If you knock out the hardest thing first, then nothing else will seem as bad.

This frame of mind has been turned into a productivity method called the “eat the frog strategy”. To complete it, you find the most daunting, challenging, don’t-wanna-do-it task from your to-do list, and you knock it out first thing in the morning.

The results? You’ll feel like you’ve achieved something great early on and allow yourself to not feel the dread and anxiety all day while you work on less challenging tasks.
