100 Dyslexics in 150 Words or Less. Edward James Olmos
Born 02/24/1947 in Los Angeles, he wanted to be a professional baseball player, but at 13, found rock music, and at 15, he was already an experienced rock singer.
A friend suggested him a career in acting. His first starring role was in 1978 “Zoot Suit”, and won a Tony Award nomination.
He is best known for his role in TV’s Miami Vice, and as Mafia kingpin in Santana ¿Americano yo?, Abraham Quintanilla in Selena, and Blade Runner, also on TV in Battlestar Galactica, Dexter, and American Family.
Olmos says he would rather be known as an activist than an actor, and devotes his time helping kids with his message, “we all have a choice”.
He served as an ambassador for UNICEF.
Olmos describes himself as a “kid from LA with dyslexia.”
