Eight Cents Richer: My Journey to Becoming a Medium Millionaire!
Algorithm woes, or something darker?
I remember that day almost five years ago. I had completed an online creative writing course and earned good grades. My instructors complimented me on my talent. I received a certificate that I’m proud of. I was ready to get my stories out into the world, but I didn’t know where to go or what to do.
My wife found the answer. She found Medium.com through a web search. I signed up and began my career as a content creator. I didn’t receive any money until a year later.
I wrote here for a year before receiving any money
I stuck with the Medium Platform. Illumination accepted me as a writer and that’s when the real growth began. I have never earned enough to make a living with my Medium stories, but I have learned a lot and met some nice people.
All that has come crashing down. The straw that broke the camel’s back for me. The story I wrote yesterday earned a whopping eight cents. As I write this, I have 3,750 followers. I never make money on this platform, but I know I have more readers than that.
