Elevate Your LinkedIn Presence: 5 Insider Tips for an Irresistible Profile
I was a Recruiter for 17+ years! Let me put that experience to good use and go over five little-known LinkedIn tips to help you attract the opportunities you want.
As many of you know, before fully diving into Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work, I was in Recruitment for 17 years. During that time, I’ve done it all, really! I was a Sourcer, a hands-on Recruiter, a Recruitment Team Lead, A Recruitment Manager, a Global Director of Recruitment, a Global Director of Talent Acquisition Operations, and a Recruitment Trainer.
I’ve worked locally and internationally and covered more industries than I can remember (even construction!) As such, I picked up a thing or two (more like a million!) about resume writing and LinkedIn profiles.
So, allow me to put all that experience into practice and share 5 little-known LinkedIn tips that will help you highlight your profile, connect with Recruiters, attract the opportunities you want, and position yourself as someone Recruiters want to reach out to!
Before we even get started, let me just say that to take full advantage of these tips, you should already have a somewhat complete LinkedIn profile. So, please go ahead and make sure that these basics are covered before diving into the more advanced strategies:
- Add your full name and headshot.
- Don’t forget to write a bio that speaks about you, your work, your interests, and what you’re looking for. It doesn’t have to be a boring bio, either!
- Add your work experience info as completely and detailed as possible (no, the title and date alone won’t do!)
- Don’t forget to add your education details, certificates and certifications, and any awards you’ve received.
Ok, with all these basics out of the way, let’s uncover some of the strategies many job seekers miss or don’t know about.
