Elon Musk announced on Sunday his intention to change Twitter’s logo from the iconic blue bird to an “X.” This move is part of his broader plan since buying the social media platform for $44 billion last year. Musk expressed his desire to implement the change globally as early as Monday.

The decision to adopt the “X” logo is unsurprising, given Musk’s history with the letter. He has previously mentioned his affinity for the symbol, as evident from his companies like SpaceX and his previous startup, X.com, which later became PayPal.

Linda Yaccarino, the Twitter CEO appointed by Musk in May, also expressed support for the logo change, emphasizing that “X” represents the future state of unlimited interactivity, centered around audio, video, messaging, payments/banking, and creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities.

Despite the enthusiasm from Musk and Yaccarino, the announcement faced skepticism and criticism on the Twitter platform.
