These days, creative thinking is a buzzword.
Threatened by AI and increasing automation, people are seeking refuge in creative thinking, the most sought-after skill by employers.
If you google “creative thinking”, there will be a plethora of complicated methods and exercises to build the skill. Not undermining the effectiveness of these writings and accepting creative thinking is a skill that can be learned. What I disagree with is the idea that creative thinking is limited to churning out novel ideas.
Giving Ideas Are Easy — Getting Things Done Need Real Hard Work
When people give examples of great creative thinkers like Thomas Edison or Steve Jobs, they ignore the hard work coupled with the idea. Thomas Edison tried hundreds of different materials to find the right one for bulb filament and Steve Jobs worked tirelessly to conceptualize and develop his vision.
