With an apologetic glance at the old dial phone, Ethel slipped her mobile into her jacket pocket and stepped out into the garden. It was so silly to feel guilty over a phone. The big, heavy one with the cream receiver had been a Christmas gift from her granddaughter, Charlie.
“A silver digital job just wouldn’t look right in your house, Gran,” Charlie had said.
