In the Summer of 2023, the live-action Barbie Doll movie called Barbie was released. It stars Margo Robbie as Barbie Doll come-to-life and Ryan Gosling as the Ken Doll come-to-life.

The original Barbie Doll was invented by a woman named Ruth Handler.

She and her husband (and another business partner) created the company Mattel in 1945. The Mattel Toy Company (Mattel Inc Toymakers, originally).

Ruth invented Barbie The Doll, and it was released in 1959.

Barbie was the first doll-shaped doll. Up until that point, toy dolls were paper dolls or baby dolls (around this time, plastic was making a huge introduction).

Barbie was the first-ever full-figured doll and the girls went crazy.

In 1961, the male Ken Doll was introduced.

This is where it gets kind of interesting…
