What is a metaphor?

A Metaphor — describes one thing by saying it is something else. It compares two things that are not alike to create a better understanding of one of them.

Here are some examples.

1. Life is a journey — both involve progress, challenges, and experiences along the way.
2. They have a heart of stone. Comparing a person's emotional state to a physical object.
3. The sun is a golden ball. The sun is beautiful and uniquely shaped like a golden ball.
4. He’s a shining star. Conveying the idea that he’s bright, talented, and successful.
5. The world is a canvas waiting to be painted. Life is full of opportunities.
