Exploring RedBubble

My experiment with a different type of passive income

I imagine that we all want to find some passive income, the type that requires some work upfront, and then reap the funds for years to come.

I’ve considered Etsy and also looked into RedBubble. I’ve always had a love for art and design so this seemed like a good idea.

For those of you that don’t know what RedBubble is, it’s essentially a site where you can upload your personal artwork and designs, and then people can choose to place them on various objects or clothing. If someone buys an item with your design, you get a cut of the profit. Sounds easy and awesome, right?

In theory, it is, but in practice, you’re also competing with who knows how many other artists/designers.

So far I have 47 designs up, available on anywhere from 5–to 20 items, and ranging from random topics to self-care and motivational, to animals and baseball. It’s been about 12 days since I first started, and I have 4 likes total on my items and zero sales.

To say the least, it’s a ridiculously slow start. But that’s ok. I enjoy doing it, and my items can stay up for years to come, as long as RedBubble exists and my account stays open.

Maybe it will generate some good income in the future, maybe it won’t. But it was fun and worth a try.

If you’re interested in seeing some of my designs, please feel free to visit (my link below). I won’t get any revenue from your visits unless you actually buy something with my design on it.

If anyone is truly interested, I may post an update in a few months on how it’s going and if I personally think it’s a good option for passive income. I’m well aware that I’m not the best artist in the world, so that could be a major factor in any success or lack thereof. ;)

What passive income streams are you interested in or currently doing?
