Fate Vs freewill,
Here comes the most debated topic in history. I wanted to write about this since my last article correlates with this one and I have been thinking a lot about this topic ever since I wrote about reality. This is not going to be a regular fate vs free will debate. This one would be completely different. I’ve been a believer in free will my entire life. So, I’m writing this from my perspective.
Before going into the topic, let me brief you on fate and free will.
- Fate — Everything is predetermined, whatever you did, do, and will do has already been decided.
2. Free Will — Individuals have the ability to make choices on their own and not predetermined by any external forces.
Take a remote-controlled car as an example. If you believe in fate, you are the car that has been controlled by someone and if you believe in free will you are the person who’s controlling the car, and the car here resembles your life.
I’ve been a believer in free will my entire life. I feel like I’m responsible for my whole life, from the tiniest decision to the big one. If I feel like taking a day off, I’ll take a day off. If want to eat meat, I do. If want to study literature, I do and I do all this because I want to and not because someone wrote that this will happen.
If you believe that your life is fated, then what do you think the purpose of your life is? What do you think the point of living your life is? What do you think would be doing in this life? If you have a goal and you succeed, would you be satisfied knowing that you did because it was already written/determined that you would do that? How would you take credit for that?
Life on the other side
How would life be if you believed in fate? I bet it would be awesome. No need to worry about anything, no need to grind because everything is already determined. You can feel relaxed. No need to rush because whatever you do will not have any impact on your life since you are destined to do certain things, and you can’t do anything other than that. You will get peace if you believe in fate. You can always have excuses if you fail.
Since I’ve been a believer in free will my entire life, I sought the help of my fate-believer friends. The most common I’ve heard is life will give you two choices in all situations. It’s up to you to decide which one you want and both will have different scenarios like playing a game. Another interesting thing is that some said when God writes our destiny, “he leaves some pages empty so that we can fill it in” I then realised we both are more connected than we think.
The simple difference between us is you think you’d be given different choices, and a few pages are left empty so that you can fill it up and we think those few pages are our entire life. That’s life. It’s simple. There is a bit of free will in fate and fate in free will. Some might think I’m fated to follow free will. I too thought that way a couple of times.
It’s all in your hands
Either fate or free will, there are always choices and empty pages. People have their own life and their own way of living. Without our effort, nothing moves here. Even fate is fated to change if you enough will!
