French Glamour: Anouk Aimée
“After each picture, her enigmatic beauty lingered” in the memories of her audience. — Life Magazine on Anouk Aimée
A reminder of what cool glamour looks like.
If you haven’t seen “A Man and A Woman” with Anouk Aimee and Jean-Louis Trintignant, directed by Claude Lelouch, please go see it, preferably in the cinema, when they re-open of course. Best bet to actually see it in a cinema: ask your rich friend to rent it, the movie, and invite people. My dream: to book an entire indie cinema, and invite people who want to feel that place of magic, light, and warmth as rain and darkness descend outside. The movie is legendary; Anouk Aimee’s classic chic as well. She’s got the je ne sais quoi * French Women have.
“A Man and A Woman” was shot in color and black & white. You might remember the theme song by Francis Lai. This was the ultimate date movie of the 1960s. Works pretty well today too. You know, when dating becomes a thing again.
