As far as marathons go

My lungs could be on fire, my throat could feel like it’s bleeding, and I could be panting as if I’m about to experience syncope at any moment — and I’ll never stop moving with the velocity of life and it’s hypothetical race.

As individuals with individual goals we will never stop climbing and aspiring to achieve great things. That’s what makes it special and abnormal — we all want it, but in a different way. And we have that choice to make for ourselves.

Normal is commonplace, boring. Sure it pays the bills, but it’s no fun. It has no swagger. Which is why I’ve decided to pivot from my current disposition that is emergency room nursing.

Don’t let the title fool you, I’m not quitting my day job. I’m starting a little something on the side which I found from reading an article on Medium. It is an unpaid apprenticeship for 3 months in the world of digital marketing under a mentor.

The app/website is called ‘Acadium’. It is fully remote and free to build up your portfolio and work for your mentor’s business.

My thoughts when I first read this?

“No fucking way, man.”

So, to answer my doubt — I signed up, made a profile, and was hooked up with a mentor within a week whom I now call my boss for the next 3 months. In this time frame I am to learn as much about building local businesses utilizing SEO, effective websites/landing pages, and even more.

To make a long story short. It’s legit.

Now, I know that the make-money gurus who produce quadrillion dollar affiliate marketing websites and million dollar blog flippers with no experience are scowling at the thought of doing free shit for a company in exchange for knowledge.

Hello, can we all take a moment to remember when paying 30–40K (if you’re lucky) to get the education (NOT A JOB) you wanted was the normal prior to the great resignation?

Nowadays, a mentor (in anything) would cost big bucks for private coaching — so I am overwhelmed at the opportunity to learn from an expert with a business.

The fact that we can just hit a couple of keys on a keyboard and start learning about a new career online will always amaze me — what a time to be alive, truly.

As a beginner in the digital marketing field

I aim to pass my knowledge on to people who are a step behind me. Whoever wants an inside scoop as to what Acadium has to offer can take a step inside my apprenticeship. I’ll document the experience through my eyes as vividly as possible.

Keep in mind I am a beginner with no experience.

Don’t feel like you have to be an expert in this just to understand it.

I will make frequent updates on my progress week by week and share what I know through Medium. When you teach, you retain, and someone that is one step behind, can build off of you. Then it becomes a chain reaction of teaching and learning.

As I type this, it’s 5:45 AM CST. I am sitting in the triage nursing station at the emergency department in Saint Louis, Missouri and I couldn’t help my excitement to write — but don’t worry, my patients are alive and well.

To think that one day I will be able to call this my side hustle or turn healthcare into some sort of business is a dream.

But until it reaches that point, I’ll just keep running this marathon and appreciating the scenery along the way.

Thank you for reading,
