“From The Moment I Could Talk, I Was Ordered To Listen”- Cat Stevens
Humanity was born in sin, so I was told.
Catholicism was mistakenly viewed as our saving grace.
For all of the things to come in life, I was unprepared.
I believe this to be true.
Unprepared. Empty.
I reflect in the rear-view mirror of time- my life.
I was taught to listen and obey. Teachers, parents, and elders.
Do not question authority. Be quiet. Listen.
I was told to depend on men.
They knew better. (hahahahahah) Anyway…
So I listened. I married young. It was “the thing” to do.
I lived an accomplished life as an educator. It was the “thing” to do.
My choices were nurse, secretary, or teacher.
That’s it, and I was to decide by the age of 17.
I lived an accomplished life as an educator.
It was the “thing” to do. That was a good choice.
It sustained me as the men in my life were more than weak.
I was able to forgo the storms and rise above the madness.
