I was browsing national news headlines not long ago when I stumbled upon an exciting yet disturbing development. The story was about Darien Harris, a Chicago man wrongfully convicted of murder. This case highlighted a critical issue within the criminal justice system in America. Besides, it also underscored the significance of accuracy and fairness in legal proceedings, which failed this man.

Darien Harris spent 12 years in prison after being wrongfully convicted of murder in 2014. This Chicago man’s conviction was based partly on the testimony of a legally blind eyewitness who later admitted to lying about his eyesight.

Harris was released from prison after the investigation revealed the truth. Not surprisingly, he is taking legal action against the city and the police for fabricating the evidence and coercing the witnesses.
