An action movie that doesn’t live up to Max Max

The Max Max saga continued with another movie hitting the theaters this past week. After starting with Mel Gibson in the classic Mad Max in 1979, Furiosa had much to live up to.

The current movie Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, starring Anya Taylor Joy from Queens Gambit, The Menu, Dune, and Chris Hemsworth from Thor, this movie was too long. At 2 ½ hours I probably could have stayed awake if I caught an earlier show. Going to the movies at 8:30 pm also ran into my bedtime.

The movie had a lot of action. Taylor Joy as Furiosa was taken from her family by a biker gang. In the film, two disparate groups battle for dominance in the wasteland.

No star stood out in the movie as Taylor Joy spoke little in the film.

Hemsworth did his best, but the story was too long. It could have been cut to at least two hours or less.

Compared to Mad Max with Mel Gibson, this movie missed the mark.
