100 Dyslexics in 150 Words or Less. George Washington. Born on 02/22/1732 in Westmoreland County, Virginia. In 1755, he became commander of all Virginia troops at age 23. In 1758 was appointed Major General- and Commander-in-Chief of the colonial forces during the American Revolution.
On 01/06/1759, he married Martha Dandridge Custis.
Elected on 02/04/1789 as President of the United States, making him the first (and only) elected unanimously.
In March 1797, he turned over the government to John Adams and returned to Mount Vernon. Years later, he fell sick and died on 12/14/1799.
He disliked slavery. In his will, he ordered their freedom.
Scientists think he had dyslexia since he had great difficulty spelling words, often spelled words how they sound like coff for cough, and his writing was disorganized and regularly misspelled.
