Humans are emotional beings; we feel more than we think, and we can act without thinking.

How often have you driven to work and realized you don’t remember the commute? you were on autopilot; you were just doing what your body had been programmed to do at that point and time.

The same can go for your house or wherever you reside. there is usually a spot you see, a spot you read, a spot you study, and so on and so forth.

Insanity has been described as doing the same thing and expecting a different result. doing the same thing is great if you enjoy the outcome but if you’re looking for a change, you have to engage your brain to problem-solve.

In order to break your brain out of autopilot, you have to put yourself in a state of thinking about where it is and, by extension, where you are.

So mix it up, change your furniture around, and get a new chair where you only do your new habit in that chair. That way, when you want to engage in the new habit but don’t feel like it, just sit in the chair, and your new habit will probably kick in.

And of course, getting out of the house, taking a new way home, trying a new cafe-all of these will cause your brain to think about where it is and will snap it out of autopilot. This can lead you to thoughts and destinations that you have never arrived at before.
