It’s not too late to have a happy childhood
When I read ’s wonderful story, my mind started doing cartwheels, and I knew I had to respond.
’s “What I wish I knew before turning 10” is a wistful look back at all the advice he ignored and now regrets not taking. Who doesn’t wish they knew then what they know now?
Number one on Matt’s list is to take more naps. Even science supports the value of taking naps. Although we now like to justify them by calling them “power naps.”
Eating vegetables? Yes, we should have started earlier. made a career of teaching us how important they are for our health.
Memorizing multiplication tables? Yes, mental math is still important, at least until the robots are perfected.
I agreed with all of his suggestions, but then I realized that there are adults who still haven’t learned many of these lessons.
Remember when we desperately wanted to be cool? Whole industries have been created to shame us about our hair, clothes, and music choices. Even as adults we are told that we are too young or too old to wear certain clothes. We are criticized for choosing certain hairstyles or listening to some kinds of music.
