Green signal means: Go.
Go green means: eco-friendly.
Green is synonymous with youth.
Thus came another word: evergreen.

Green symbolizes rebirth:

Green is a mix of yellow (which symbolizes glory and energy) and blue (which relates to God and the heavens). In spiritual terms, green implies a beginning, new growth, vibrant health, and such other concepts connected with life, rebirth, and renewal.

Our earth is the only green planet in this universe, so far as our knowledge is concerned.

Seeing green makes you feel happy, without any reason! But why? Is it because, a beautiful view of green takes us nearest to origin, to mother nature? May be!

Chlorophyll & photosynthesis:

Maybe like every other child, I used to believe in my childhood that plants live on the water. More correctly water is the only food a plant can eat. Seeing is believing. Later, I came to know, that though water is essential for plants (for humans too), it is not food for them.

Then, in the classroom at my school, I had learned how plants cook their food! Later in a physics class, I learnt why plants are green!

Chlorophyll gives plants green because it does not absorb the green wavelengths of white light. That results in the reflection of the particular light wavelength from the plants.

Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants turn carbon dioxide and water into food by using the energy of sunlight. The entire process requires the presence of water, sunlight, and chlorophyll!

A mystery:

If you are still reading this story, you may wonder why I am giving you such information that everyone knows. Well, sometimes we forget what we learned in student life (Excuse me, I am talking about an ordinary person only) and feel happy when someone else comes to spark the memory that has been covered by the dust of time.

But there are some mysteries in this universe that may remain unsolved for ever and it is also one of them. Can you guess what mystery I’m talking about?

In every step of food preparation (Photosynthesis), plants require that essential ingredient ‘light’ or ‘solar energy’, which is available in plenty almost around the year in major parts of a country like India. India is the most populous country in the world. My question is why do we, human beings cannot produce our food using sunlight, water, and something like chlorophyll. If we could (make our own bread free of cost without depending upon anyone else), there would not exist any hunger in this globe! Who doesn’t know that if there was no hunger, many great jobs could have been done by us? But in this respect, we are helpless and inferior to plants, though, in all likelihood, we’ll never admit it!
