Some worthy sinners wear halos of gold;
Perform deeds that redeem, deeds that reclaim.
What man lost to Eden, secrets untold;
Once led by impure passions set aflame.
Is man not entitled to his sweat’s worth?
Is man not free to learn from his error?
Is cancel culture the way to rebirth?
Is this why good deeds are all the rarer?
Changes in viewpoints are met with disdain.
While people do try to better themselves,
Others douse said spark, drag them down the drain,
Back to their old ways, their desolate selves.
The way one is raised and the way one goes,
Have much to show for good and lack thereof.
Punish not who break from conformity’s throes;
Instead, hail their deeds when push comes to shove.
