What I learned in Billy Graham’s book: The Secret of Happiness

Billy Graham has been one of my favorite writers for a long time. His book, the Secret of Happiness is one of my favorites and I have found myself read several times.

In his book, Billy explains how one can find happiness even in hardship times;

  1. Poverty
  2. While mourning
  3. Persecutions

According to Billy, most of us have been seeking happiness in the wrong place. Mother Theresa says, “True holiness consists of doing the will of God with a smile.”

Every one of us wants or is looking for something to make us happy. Be it money or anything to make fun of. Sometimes you try something but it fails even though you still go ahead with other activities happily. That is happiness which brings in endurance worth and endures no matter what comes our way.

Another what mentioning thing is that happiness doesn’t just come from what we do. However, it does come to our liking of what we have to do. If you have to study, like it. If you have to sacrifice time, space, money, or anything else for you to be happy and one of the best writers in the medium, you need to like that.

Some of the steps to happiness he listed include surrender, being sensitive to what others need, prayer, and love among others.

Billy explains further that happiness is found by seeking the Kingdom of the Lord God who is the sole provider. In John 10:10 Jesus says,. “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it abundantly.”

This is what I call happiness:

  • Doing it passionately -happiness in results
  • Involve God. Wake up, pray, and start up your day
  • Never fear anything. Fearing to fail is preparing to fail.
  • Just do it. Do not overthink. You however have to do it the right way.
  • Own happiness. Celebrate you.
  • Avoid envy. In fact, you should use that as a motivating factor to do more.
