Harry Potter Quotes to Cheer You Up

Choice: Only thing you have to do is die. Everything else is a choice. Say it aloud. That’s liberating.

4. “It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be!”

Mind over matter

― Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter, and the Sorcerer’s Stone - “When in doubt, go to the library.”
– Ron Weasley, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - “Words are, in my not so humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic, capable of both influencing injury, and remedying it.”

— Albus Dumbledore, from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone - “Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?” — Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Wise Words

― Sirius Black, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - “Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love.” — Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
The best that stuck with me was the tale of the three brothers.
Three brothers knew magic. They came upon a treacherous river that no one crossed. With their wands, they built a bridge and proceeded to walk across.
The seething spirit of death stood in the middle of the bridge and cunningly offered them gifts of their own choosing.
The eldest brother asked for the elder wand — the most powerful wand. The second brother asked for the power to recall the deceased from the grave. The third wise brother asked for something to enable him to go forth without Death being able to follow. He got an invisible cloak.
The eldest brother, on a drunken night, boasted of this wand. That very night another wizard slit his throat and stole the wand. Death had his way.
The second brother returned to his home and resurrected a girl he truly loved. Though she had returned to the mortal world, she did not truly belong there and suffered. Driven by a longing to join her, he committed suicide to join her. Death had the last say.
Death searched for the youngest brother as years passed, but never succeeded. It was only when the third brother reached a great age; he took off the cloak and gave it to his son.
A line I remember from this story — “Greeting Death as an old friend, they departed this life as equals.”
Power, lust, and humility — ranked ordered with panache.
