A love poem
Here’s to Missing You, Dear Reader
Let it be just the two of us again.

I miss the connection that we had
Between my writing pen and your highlighting pen.
I miss the camaraderie we shared
Between your smart comments and my answered attempts.
I miss the way we’d resonate; when our ideas coagulate
The thoughts that are inside my head and the advice you give instead.
I miss the respect that we both shared and the understanding that we cared,
For this real experience so unique, as making love between the sheets.
I miss your claps and private notes.
I miss your statements and your quotes.
Your criticisms I held dear since I know we only came to share,
A message that is so divine, a gift that’s yours and theirs and mine.
My favourite reader, please come back, set my writing back on track.
I never thought I’d miss you so, as if you’d promised not to go.
I woke at two to write this piece, I really needed the release.
And so as I close my prose in hope, please know your views keep me afloat.
Not for money, nor for fame, just knowing you look for my name.
I miss the beauty we did celebrate, I hope this message is not too late.
