Recently we have been experiencing an excessive amount of heat waves all over the world. I live in LA, so if you have been to it, you know how hot it gets here. During the day, it gets hotter than usual. However, even on nights and months, it is supposed to be cold, and we can still feel the heat.

But what are heat waves anyway?

Heat Waves

It is a weather condition that lasts for a certain period that is abnormally high in temperature and has excessive heat; and can occur with or without humidity, and the heat index measures it.

Meanwhile, the dew point is being used mainly by Meteorologists. It is because it shows a better idea of the relationship between relative humidity and air temperature. Dew point’s definition is the temperature at which dew forms, or the temperature the air has to cool at constant pressure to reach total saturation.

A heatwave occurs when a system of high atmospheric pressure moves into an area and lasts two or more days. In such a high-pressure system, air from upper levels of our atmosphere is pulled toward the ground, where it becomes compressed and increases in temperature.

How Does It Affect Us?
