How 1,000 Strangers Helped Me Find My Purpose Again
In this world — there are no strangers.
Everything in life happens for a reason. Strangers enter our lives with a purpose. Once a stranger saved me from being homeless in Tokyo.
I will be always grateful to him.
Recently I stumbled upon a profound article written by Bernie’s Daughter where she speaks of her achievements in life.
Not so long ago, I measured achievements by my bank statements, work titles, cities visited or degrees earned — just like the society would like us to. This toxic belief has made me sick.
I was motivated for the wrong reasons because I didn’t value myself enough. I had this toxic belief that I was not good enough. I still often struggle with this but I decided to change it.
This year I’ve experienced a lot of losses.
I’ve lost my childhood friend. I’ve lost my best friend. I’ve lost my freedom.
I’ve also managed somehow to lose $35,000.
Most importantly I’ve lost myself along the way. Somehow nothing excited me as much as it did before. I could not find a reason to be motivated to do certain things.
