We don’t trust our institutions anymore.

Ever since the Covid pandemic (probably before that too), but increasingly since then, the trust our institutions less and less.

All institutions from the media, to the science and pharmaceutical industry, to our governmental institutions and more.

There is almost no institution left any more that unites us all — the social fabric, social cohesion that kept us together is eroding.

More and more, people are not approaching society from the same place of trust and belonging, but rather from a place of distrust, isolation and even hatred.

How did we get here and can we go back?

  • Well, we got here first and foremost through the internet. Not just through the internet, but that was a start. When we all lived in real life and interacted in person, we had to maintain social decorum, behave and act a certain way in order to fit in.

The internet, on the other hand, provides a level of anonymity that lets you get away with almost anything. It is also a breeding ground for conspiracy theories and crazy takes, where people can get together and discuss the wildest things.
