Reading is the habit of highly successful people and leaders. The habit of reading not only lets you know about something but also develops personality and grooming.

US President Harry S. Truman said, “Readers are leaders”, and he played a crucial role in WW2. The leader usually plays the role of savior. Leaders develop their higher IQ through knowledge. So, what we get from the quote, is the thirst for knowledge and the habit of reading leads to the role you wouldn’t expect it to play. Reading is one of the finest habits anyone can adopt. It not only makes you informative about something, but also leads you to the point where you will see your personality as vast groomed, and acknowledged. Here are the reasons why reading sharpens your personality.

Nelson Mandela spent 27 years of his life in prison. There he read so many books throughout his time in the jail. He came out and won the Presidential election. He has also won the Nobel Prize for Peace. He quotes, “One of the sad realities today is that very few people, especially young people, read books. Unless we can find imaginative ways of addressing this reality, future generations are in danger of losing their history”.

Reading usually develops positive energy and attitude. A positive attitude is the key to success. “It is very rare that a successful person is a good human being. But, a good man does become a successful person one day.” Reading is the habit of successful and historical personalities. The great Indian revolutionist Bhagat Singh read almost 550 books during his short life span of 23 years. He got hanged at a very young age fighting against imperialism.

Reading not only helps to develop higher intelligence but also leads to great emotional intelligence. People with emotional intelligence are seen to be much more mature as compared to others. Higher intelligence is a key factor in developing the personality.

At certain times our body feels depressed and anxious so we have some physical exercise to relax our body. It is believed that reading is the exercise of our brain. We usually read to get our brains relaxed and comforted. Mostly, it is seen that readers handle certain pressurized situations pretty well.

The readers are always seen to be self-driven and self-motivated. Life did not spend them, readers are the ones who spend life with their willpower. As the great Jinnah quotes, “Don’t wait for the opportunity create it”. The readers always lead the world through their ideas. They are the ones who inspire the universe with their stories.

Reading not only develops personality but also builds great vocabulary and comprehensive written and listening skills. The great listener is the great speakers. Readers inspire the audience and masses through their ideas. It develops the approaches of analytics, critical thinking, and cross-debate. It develops our attitude from head to foot.

Reading develops the curiosity to learn more and understand more. The reader will always remain a reader and always search for something that can add to his knowledge. Albert Einstein said, “I have no special talents. I am passionately curious”. Through that quote, we can guess the importance of reading.

How did the IT revolution destroy the habit of reading?

Since the revolution of Information Technology. The habit of reading has been reduced seriously. Now the young masses prefer to spend their time on social media platforms rather than in a library. The book is the reason behind the world standing at the peak of its quest and knowledge.
