I’ve been running an online business for about 17 years now. I started a blog the very same day I heard of “blogging” for the first time.
I learned everything from scratch, on a computer with dial-up internet. For those of you who have not had the great pleasure of that, let’s just say count your blessings.
I learned from scratch
When you have no money, you get motivated.
I learned to write basic html code, how to create ads, how to write and self-publish books, how to create a website, how to do affiliate marketing, and ultimately, I taught myself graphic design because I couldn’t pay anyone else to do it, and now I work on Fiverr as a graphic design artist.
The internet can be golden.
My mother would drive to my house to make sure I was OK because she had been trying to call 5 hours straight. No phone line while the internet is connected with dial-up. And of course, no iPhones back then!
