In the depths of Mediterranean Sea T. dohrnii is generally found living in temperate to tropical waters. a creature with an extraordinary ability to defy the boundaries of life captures our attention. the Turritopsis dohrnii, commonly known as the immortal jellyfish. Its unique biological characteristic of reverting back to its youthful state has sparked curiosity among scientists and given rise to the exciting prospect of gene editing that could revolutionize the field of genetic manipulation and pave the way for groundbreaking advancements.

  1. The Immortal Jellyfish Phenomenon —T. dohrnii exhibits a remarkable ability to regenerate its cells and essentially reset its biological clock. When T dohrnii jellyfish faced adverse conditions or approaching death, this jellyfish has the power to transform its mature cells back into an embryonic state through a process called transdifferentiation. It reorganizes its existing cells to form a new polyp, which eventually develops into a mature jellyfish once again. This phenomenon allows the jellyfish to cheat death and, in theory, achieve immortality.
