How to Benefit from the Knowledge Surrounding You

Understanding the role of a diverse society such as Illumination

Learning is more than the acquisition of the ability to think; it is the acquisition of many specialised abilities for thinking about a variety of things — Lev Vygotsky, Mind in Society, 1978.

It saddened me to read about the death of four young people in their mid-teens who died in a stolen car crash last week. Only the 14year old driver escaped alive. There was no blame apportioned to law enforcement, as police hadn’t pursued the car when they learned of the occupants’ ages.

This is such a sad situation happening too often. My thoughts are with the families of these young people, and my regret at the loss of young lives.

How does this happen? At this age, the teens didn’t have the knowledge, skill, or practical ability to manage a car safely at speed. To do so requires navigating a comprehensive set of instructions, passing practical and written examinations, all under the guidance of explicitly documented caretakers and professionals.

Understand what learning you need before you begin

When you decide to craft a new role for yourself, creative or business, what do you need to research?
