You have so many things in your mind and big dreams to achieve, but you constantly find yourself doing stuff you know won’t take you to the destination you want; whether trying to build a business or habits that help you in doing so, it all comes down to what are the practices that you do daily.

What you do daily defines you.

If you stay so long on social media, watching endless videos and scrolling, you will get better at scrolling and watching videos.

When you want to change your life, you must look at the daily practices you repeatedly do without thinking.

The tiny actions you take and the practices you do ultimately shape who you are and what you can improve upon. You can progress toward achieving your dreams by replacing those actions with other small practices.

So if you are trying to build a business and you are working 9 to 5, you must know that what you do in the early morning before going to work or what you do in your evenings is the set of practices that will help you build your business or keep you just dreaming of while watching a chill show.

How could you change those tiny practices to ones that would help you achieve your dreams?

Define where you want to be after three years.

Imagine where you want to be in life and what you want to be doing after a long time.

Set three years as a starting point.

By doing so, you can set a clear and specific goal and plan for your future. This will also boost your motivation to help you achieve your goals.

You will be able to identify what practices you could do to help you reach your destination.

Know what practices you should be doing to help you reach your goal

You should be able to identify the practices that would help you achieve your goal. If your goal is to be fit and healthy.

You know for sure that you must be working out and eating healthy food. Seek first for a 15-minute workout.

Don’t try to go all in and spend too much time at first. Stay consistent on that 15 minutes and keep doing it, and over time you will get better. Don’t try to spend too much time working out for one day and skipping two weeks after.

A 15-minute workout done daily is better than a long workout done occasionally.

Time box practices in your schedule

Don’t say that you will work out tomorrow.

Define a specified time for the workout.

It becomes easier for us when we do our practices without thinking too much about them; we just know that we have to be doing them in that specified time, so we do it.

By leaving the time loose and not specifying it, you will most probably do the practice occasionally, and you won’t be consistent in doing the practice.

Create an appealing environment around your practice.

There are some things in life that we enjoy doing and don’t take too much of our mental focus while doing.

Take me, for example:

I love drinking coffee, and that in itself brings me joy.

So when I wanted to be able to practice writing, I decided that it would be a one-hour session in the morning while I was drinking my morning coffee.

By pairing the writing with my morning coffee, I made it easier for me to do a much more complex practice while doing something I enjoy.

By the time, enjoying my morning coffee made me enjoy my time writing.

Allow no interruption

Do whatever it takes to never be interpreted while doing the practice.

Stay focused as much as you can, turn off all your notifications, or make your mobile on airplane mood.

Write a note that when anyone approaches, see that you are not available at the moment.

If you are interpreted during your practice, you will be making an extra effort to get back to what you were doing.

Don’t try to multitask. Focus on your practice and allow no interruptions.

Stay consistent

Consistency is the key to reaching your goal.

You have defined the small practices that you would be doing.

If you find yourself increasing the time or effort, but you aren’t consistent in practice, go back to the tiny practice you were doing and stay consistent on it.

Don’t try to go big if you won’t stay consistent in practice.

Doing the same thing repeatedly every day is what will help you get better and reach your goal.

Celebrate your time trying the practice.

Every time you try doing the practice at the end of it, cheer yourself on for trying even if you don’t get any results.

Results will come in time.

If you make a tiny achievement, you must celebrate it.

Big results won’t come fast.

So celebrate your efforts and your tiny results to keep yourself motivated.
