How to Embark on a Journey of Self-Discovery

Embarking on a journey of self-discovery can be an incredibly rewarding and life-changing experience. It involves taking the time to learn about yourself, your values, beliefs, and motivations, as well as understanding how these shape the decisions you make in life. While such a journey can be daunting, there are lots of ways to start exploring and gaining a deeper understanding of yourself.

I’ve been on a journey of self-discovery for a little longer than a year-and-a-half, ever since my life fell apart in a very public way. I’m a pathological liar, and it caught up with me as it finally spilled into my professional life where it eroded belief in any of my successes, decimated trust in my relationships, and marooned me as a castaway. I no longer had any sense of self — and I’ve been on a journey of self-discovery ever since, learning how to live an authentic life. These are some things that have been extremely helpful in my recovery:
