How To Grow Your Monthly Reads
I have a cunning plan
Sometimes in life, the threat of losing somebody you have previously undervalued provokes you to make a great deal of extra effort to keep them. That is all well and good in personal relationships, but what about when it is about Medium and Substack?
Back in June, when I saw my monthly income from Medium, for May, drop to just $29 I decided I had to do something drastic about it. My first move was to give Substack a try to see if my writing would be better appreciated.
To date, I have acquired 73 subscribers, only one of them paid, plus 998 views, which do not pay me a cent. However, on the basis that the statistics are a sight better than those of my inauspicious start on Medium over four years ago, I have decided to stick it out and see if like Medium, over a longer period, they improve.
At the same time, I created four new websites of my own, one on Ghost and three on Beehiiv. Ghost is proving extremely slow to get going whilst Beehiiv is doing ok, thanks to the Beehiiv referral feature doing what they claim it will do. As for Medium, I was in for a very big pleasant surprise.
In July, my stats remained stuck at the same level as in June at 1.8 views and 775 reads. Then in August, they skyrocketed to 15.1K for views and 11K for reads. Clearly…
