If you’re like most young adults, you’re probably more concerned with your Instagram following than your credit score. But believe it or not, your credit score is actually a lot more important than you think. A good credit score can help you get approved for a car loan or a mortgage. A good credit score can save you money on the interest rate, so it’s worth taking the time to improve yours. By following the steps above, you can improve your credit score fast.

Review your credit reports

To get a baseline of where your credit score is and what might be impacting it, you’ll first want to check your credit report. You’re entitled to one free credit report from each credit bureau (Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax) every 12 months through AnnualCreditReport.com.

Tip: Look for errors

Once you have your credit report in hand, comb through it carefully and look for any errors or omissions. If you find any, be sure to dispute them with the credit bureau right away.
