Crunchy leaves, cozy afternoons, lots of tea… Autumn sounds great! And I am here today to give you some ideas on how to be prepared for this season.

Organising your closet

The transition from summer to autumn can leave many of us in situations like freezing in the cold mornings or wearing too many jackets at once. However, organising your closet to make it fit these few transitional weeks can save you both time and outfits that would otherwise go to waste. “But how?” you ask. It’s pretty simple!

•You want to make sure you aren’t reaching for the winter jackets just yet; there's going to be plenty of time for that. Instead, you can opt for a trenchcoat; those are always in trend! Moreover, I like putting on a blazer when it is sunnier outside. And you can never go wrong with a blazer, especially for work or school. Just pair it with a classic shirt and maybe a pair of jeans for a casual outing.

•Make a selection of clothes that is similar to a capsule wardrobe. If you aren’t familiar with the concept, make sure to write to me in the comments and I will write an article on that! Set aside a few shirts, classic pants and skirts, and maybe one or two pullovers. Also, let’s not forget about dresses, for those of you who enjoy wearing them!

•Now it is time to start pairing them up in outfits. If one option looks like you would be cold, add the pullover to the set. Are the colours not matching? Maybe that neutral top you wore during summer can go with the funky blazer for a touch of personality! (instead of combining the blazer with a patterned shirt and having nothing to wear in the morning when you are late.)

•When the base of the outfits is done, the fun part begins! During autumn, outfits can become repetitive unless you add some accessories. Now, that doesn't have to be huge hats or dramatic earrings for those of you who aren't into that. Silk scarves, belts, a matching purse and some jewellery can take any outfit from bland to unique!

•But how about shoes? Well, for starters, you can put away the sandals because it is boots season! For a more casual look, opt for a good pair of sneakers. Keep in mind, these are only transitional outfits, so before the weather gets too cold, loafers are the best option! They go with an office suit, but also with cosy jeans and a warm pullover.

And don’t forget: your closet should represent YOU! So when organising it, make sure to make it as original as you want, and take your time selecting the pieces, combing them, and wearing them for great outfit photos! To avoid stressing out or buying too many of the same item, narrow down the closet to the options I listed above, but you can always have more jeans or an extra blazer if that is your style!

Home Decor

We always see those Halloween-themed houses on TV or social media, but autumn decor is much more than that! Warm, neutral tones to greet you when you come home will surely take your mind off the cold weather or work-related stress. While a touch of wild colours fits best in the spring and summer, cosiness is best represented by milder tones.

Don’t worry, you don't have to renovate to get the latest autumn look! Home accessories are here to help.

You have limitless opportunities! Candles that smell like rain and cinnamon, decorative pillows in neutral colours for your couch, and flower vases. Some small paintings (like Monet) can really change the way any room looks!
