One of the most beautiful things to see is the phenomenon of the Northern Lights with its magical colors which makes the Icelandic night a unique spectacle. But when can you see the Northern Lights?

The first thing to keep in mind is that the Northern Lights are unfortunately not seen every night in Iceland. The geomagnetic force, the darkness, the lights of the city, and the clouds contribute significantly to the visibility of this incredible phenomenon.

What are the conditions in which you can see the Northern Lights?

The first indispensable condition for being able to see is the total absence of clouds. In fact, the clouds obscuring the sky prevent a clear view and therefore obstruct the sky. It is good to remember that the aurora can be seen during the night so if you are planning to travel to Iceland in the summer, seeing the aurora may not be so easy given the almost twenty hours of light a day that characterizes the season.
