In the era of the internet, life has become very fast with everything at the tip of our fingers. We can share anything we want with anyone in any part of the world.

But this comes at a price.

We are constantly bombarded with people who seem to do better than us in their posts. They seemed to be achieving their goals.

We all have goals in our lives but it seems very hard to be able to attain them.

In this article, I would like to share some of the hacks that I use to try to accomplish my goals.

Size of Goal

The size of a goal depends on an individual. Someone might be interested in getting a degree, someone might be interested in attaining a skill, etc.

There is no right or wrong size for a goal. We are all trying to improve ourselves by trying to achieve our goals in our lives.

For me, the size of a goal is determined by the number of days it takes to accomplish that goal.

So, getting a degree that requires 4 years is a big goal, and finishing a book that might require 1 month is a small goal.

Divide the goal into small steps

The way I approach any goal is by first dividing that goal into small steps that I can take toward finishing the goal.

This strategy of dividing the goal into smaller steps works for both big and small goals. The only difference is that the number of steps will be more in the bigger goals as compared to the smaller goals.

For example, let’s say you want to finish reading a book of 500 pages. The first step will be dividing the goal of finishing the book into finishing a single page in a day.

Be Consistent

This is the most important part of finishing your goal. Most people get distracted very easily which moves them away from their goals.

The good thing about the second step of dividing the goal into smaller steps is that it is easier to maintain consistency.

From the previous example of converting a book reading into finishing a single page in a day, it is easier to maintain the consistency of finishing a single page reading in 24 hours.

The key part is to focus on the smaller step instead of the bigger goal that you have in mind and if you are consistent enough, you will be able to reach your goal.

This is how I was able to finish reading 100 books in 2 years. It took 1 month to finish my first book and then I got more confident and increased my daily reading pace which made me finish books at a much faster rate. The key was to never skip reading every day.

Conclusion

We all have goals in our lives that we want to finish in order to improve our lives but we get distracted by the glamours of the internet and the size of our goals.

The best trick is to divide the goal into smaller steps that you can repeat consistently. This gives us the option to focus on the smaller steps which will ultimately lead to our goal.

If you have any experience of tricks that you use to get to your goal then do share it in the comment section.
