Streptococcus mutans is your mouth’s worst enemy. Rinsing away these bacteria with extra-virgin coconut oil could stop cavities (a process called “pulling”), make your mouth less offensive by killing off gingivitis germs, and improve your overall oral health.

Swish one tablespoon of coconut oil around your teeth and gums for 10 to 15 minutes.

Another study showed that sesame oil pulling helped nearly two dozen children beat halitosis. Chemicals manufactured by bacteria cause halitosis or bad breath.

However, there is no confirmation of claims that oils whiten your teeth, detoxify, or treat any disease other than oral.
