I got to my first martial arts training 15 years ago, after 12 years of lifting weights. I remember that I went through three stages of exhaustion after my classes:

  1. I took out my keys to open my flat’s door and dropped them on the floor. Sometimes more than one time.
  2. I took out my keys to open my flat’s door and dropped them. I managed to catch them before they landed on the floor.
  3. I took out my keys to open my flat’s door and could do it.

I couldn’t even talk after classes for more than a year. All I could do was eat something and fall asleep.

My first martial art is called Kudo (Daido Juku). You can see it in the picture below. I trained for recreation and never competed.

I moved to Singapore in 2011 and found that Kudo wasn’t present there. My Kudo sensei advised me to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) instead.
